HS-875: practical hurricane protection for inland properties
HS-875 is Hurricane Solution’s most accessible hurricane protection system. It is designed for properties that face real hurricane risk but do not have the direct exposure of a beachfront hotel or oceanfront residence: typically residential and commercial properties roughly 3 km or more from the coast, subject to the building, opening size, height and actual exposure.
Key specifications
| Property | HS-875 |

| Anchoring | Hurricane Solution flexible clip / engineered anchoring platform |
| Maintenance | Very low maintenance; yearly anchor check and proper rinse, dry and storage |
Model name vs. engineering value
HS-875 is the product name. The current engineering documentation for the polypropylene screen supports a Mullen Burst value of 825 PSI. We keep the established HS-875 model name, but state the engineering value separately so customers can distinguish branding from the tested specification.
Where HS-875 makes sense
HS-875 fits when the property needs permanent, repeatable hurricane preparation without paying for more material margin than the exposure justifies: inland homes, condominiums, storefronts and commercial openings where the structure can accept the engineered anchor layout.
We do not recommend HS-875 for beachfront hotels. Properties directly exposed to the ocean, critical facilities, high-consequence hotel operations or owners who want a larger protection margin should be evaluated for HS-1250 or HS-1500.
The engineering is more than the screen
HS-875 uses the same design philosophy as the stronger systems: the screen is only one part of the load path. The flexible connection, permanent anchors, fastener spacing and building substrate determine how the system carries impact and wind loading into the structure. That is why we evaluate each opening and the material behind the finish before installation (see patented anchoring).
The polypropylene documentation includes large-missile impact and cyclic-pressure testing for approved configurations, plus material testing. It is listed in the technical library by exact product and configuration, not as a blanket approval for every installation.
What 5% openness means
HS-875 is approximately 5% open. It is not a solid barrier: light and visibility pass through, so a protected room does not feel closed off and keeps some view to the exterior during deployment.
Very low maintenance
- After a storm, rinse the screen with fresh water so salt residue is not stored with the product.
- Never place a wet screen into storage; let it dry completely first.
- Keep the screws in the anchors whenever practical, so screws are not lost and anchor holes do not fill with dirt or debris.
- Once a year, before hurricane season, confirm that every screw threads correctly into its anchor.
HS-875 compared with HS-1250 and HS-1500
HS-875, HS-1250 and HS-1500 compared
| System | Documented strength (Mullen, ASTM D3786) | Visibility | Typical use | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HS-875 | 825 PSI | 5% open; see-through | Inland/off-beach residential and commercial (about 3 km+ from the coast) | 5 years |
| HS-1250 | 1,250+ PSI | 5% open; transparent white, you can make out what is on the other side | All zones, including beachfront; where aesthetics and visibility matter | 7 years |
| HS-1500 | 1,500+ PSI | Translucent; light passes but you cannot make out the other side | All zones, including beachfront; maximum protection / closed-envelope strategy | 10 years |
Indicative price: $125–185 USD per m² of protected opening (see pricing). For homes, see residential; to compare against other systems, see the hurricane protection comparison.
No properly engineered, installed, anchored and deployed Hurricane Solution system has ever failed during a hurricane.
Frequent questions
Is HS-875 an 875 PSI screen?
HS-875 is the model name. The current engineering documentation supports a Mullen Burst specification of 825 PSI for the polypropylene screen used in the system.
Can I use HS-875 on the beach?
Hurricane Solution positions HS-875 for inland and lower-exposure properties, commonly around 3 km or more from the coast. Beachfront properties should be evaluated for HS-1250 or HS-1500.
Can I see through HS-875?
Yes. It is about 5% open, so occupants can see outside through the deployed screen.
What maintenance does HS-875 need?
Very little: rinse after storm exposure, dry fully before storage, keep anchor holes clean and verify every year that each screw threads properly into its anchor.
Why should Hurricane Solution install it?
Because performance depends on the complete load path: screen, clip, fastener, anchor and structural substrate. Correct engineering and installation are part of the system, not an accessory.
