The certificate is only as good as the components actually installed on your building.
A hurricane system is only as strong as the point where it connects to the building.
You can use the strongest fabric available and the most advanced flexible clip, but eventually every load has to pass through the bolt, the anchor and into the structure. If the anchor fails, the rest of the system no longer matters.

The large technical file behind Hurricane Solution's systems contains a Miami-Dade County Notice of Acceptance specifically for the anchoring system, rather than only the screen material. That is a major point.

The 1½-inch anchor insert was tested in concrete. The 1/4-20 Sidewalk Bolt configuration was tested separately. Testing was performed by Fenestration Testing Laboratory, Inc. under ASTM E488-96.

A removable connection, engineered for repeated use.
The removable screen connects through a stainless-steel 1/4-20 bolt into a permanent threaded insert. The technical documentation specifically describes the anchor insert as designed for hurricane-panel applications and for repeated insertion of 1/4-20 threaded hardware.

An anchor that works perfectly when new can become a different component after years of salt exposure.
The anchor documentation specifies a Stalgard corrosion-resistant finish tested for approximately 800–1,000 hours of salt-spray exposure under ASTM B117. It also explains the importance of the washer in preventing moisture from entering the anchor cavity when a Sidewalk Bolt is left installed.
For Cancún, Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and Cabo, this is not a theoretical issue.
A certification is only valid for the system that was tested.
A manufacturer may earn a Florida or Miami-Dade approval using a specific fabric, specific anchors, specific bolts, specified fastener spacing, defined edge distances, approved substrates, and a particular installation configuration.
If someone later substitutes one of those components with a cheaper alternative, the fact that the original system was certified does not automatically certify the substitute.
This is where the Mexican market creates an additional risk. A supplier can show the client a legitimate U.S. test report or approval and then install locally sourced or imported hardware that was not part of the assembly represented by that certification.
The certificate may be genuine. The installed system may not be.
That is the distinction this page needs to teach.
What can change, without naming competitors.
FABRIC
The tested specification uses a particular grade and construction. A cheaper imported polypropylene may look almost identical but have different UV stability, tensile strength or burst resistance.
ANCHORS
The approval may specify a particular anchor type, embedment and material. A visually similar inexpensive insert is not automatically equivalent.
BOLTS
A stainless 1/4-20 Sidewalk Bolt is not interchangeable with every bolt of the same diameter.
CORROSION PROTECTION
The original specification may use tested corrosion-resistant coatings or stainless steel. A lower-grade substitute can behave very differently after several years near saltwater.
WASHERS & SMALL COMPONENTS
Even a component as simple as a washer can affect moisture intrusion, corrosion and future removal of the hardware. The technical documentation specifically warns about this.
SPACING
Even using the right anchor at the wrong spacing can change the load carried by each point.
This is where we explain that the system was tested — not merely a collection of things that look similar.
Two suppliers can show you the same certificate.

Both suppliers may show you the same certificate. Only one may be installing the system described in it.
Fabric strength alone is not the system.
The flexible clip helps absorb and redistribute the impact. But eventually the remaining load reaches the permanent anchor. The flexible clip protects the connection from unnecessary load concentration. The certified anchor then has to transfer the remaining load safely into the structure.
Fabric strength alone is not the system. Clip alone is not the system. Anchor alone is not the system. It is the engineered relationship between them.
The installed components have to meet the specification.
When Hurricane Solution specifies a system, the materials and hardware are selected to maintain the engineering basis of that system. We do not show a client a U.S. certification and then quietly replace the tested components with cheaper alternatives simply because those alternatives are easier to source in Mexico.
This is particularly important for:

- Show me the Miami-Dade or Florida approval
- Which exact anchor was used in that approval?
- Is that the exact anchor you will install on my property?
- What bolt is specified? What is its material?
- What corrosion testing does it have?
- What are its pull-out and shear values?
- What embedment is required?
- What anchor spacing applies to my opening?
- Is the fabric you are installing the exact specification represented in the test report?
- Can you document that the installed components match the certified assembly?
If the supplier cannot answer these questions, the buyer should ask what exactly the certificate being shown is certifying.
Their purpose is not to decorate a website with certificates.
A Miami-Dade approval matters. Independent anchor testing matters. Material specifications matter. But their purpose is not to decorate a website with certificates. Their purpose is to make sure that when the screen is loaded during a real hurricane, every part of the system — from the fabric to the building — continues doing its job.
A certified fabric attached with an untested anchor is not the same certified system.
